Yet at this time when we most need to encourage intelligent and creative solutions to our problems, education throughout the world and here at home is far from adequate. So today we pray for the appropriate funding of our education system from preschool to graduate school. As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “the school is the last expenditure upon which America should be willing to economize.”

We give thanks for our minds. They are wonderful and powerful gifts.
May people everywhere realize the importance of education.
May the funding of education be at appropriate levels to improve education, especially for the young.
And may those funds be used effectively and responsibly.

Amen.
